Almost everyone who asks me about Bitget is asking about copy trading. So let me answer that rather than list features.
What copy trading really is
You pick a trader, allocate money, and their trades execute in your account automatically. The appeal is obvious: you do not need to know anything.
That is also the problem.
The profiles show past returns, and past returns in crypto are mostly a record of how much risk someone took during a rising market. A trader who returned 300% in a bull run may have done it by using leverage that will wipe the account out in a flat one. You are not seeing skill. You are usually seeing risk appetite plus timing.
If you are going to do it anyway
- Look at the drawdown, not the return. How much did the account fall at its worst point? If you would not have sat through that calmly, you will bail at the bottom
- Check how long the record is. Three months is noise
- Start with an amount you would be comfortable losing entirely
- Understand that the trader is paid from your profits, which rewards them for taking risk with your money
The honest recommendation
Copy trading is a reasonable way to watch how an experienced trader behaves while you learn. It is a poor substitute for learning. The people in my community who do well are the ones who graduated off it.
